Stories from the Community

Projects, contributions and the people who help bring them to life.

Planting Pride, Growing Responsibility

At Old Road Primary School, environmental stewardship begins with students taking an active role in caring for the place where they learn and grow.

Our Founder and Manager continues to work alongside the students and Adopt A Coastline, with support from Carlisle Bay Hotel, to connect environmental education with practical action. Through planting activities, students help improve their school grounds while learning that protecting the environment is a responsibility they can take on today.

Each planting session offers an opportunity to build teamwork, patience and pride in their surroundings. It also makes a wider message tangible: young people have a part to play in shaping the future of their communities.

This ongoing collaboration aims to nurture that sense of responsibility early, encouraging students to carry what they learn beyond the school gates and into their everyday lives.

Protecting the Coastlines That Sustain Us

In Antigua and Barbuda, our beaches are part of everyday life. They help feed us, bring families and friends together, and offer spaces for rest and recreation. Alongside our mangroves and other coastal ecosystems, they also help protect our communities from storms.

Caring for these spaces takes consistent effort. Over the years, our Founder has worked alongside volunteers, community groups and other stakeholders on coastal clean-ups, helping to remove well over 50,000 gallons of waste. Behind that work are people giving their time and energy to protect shores that belong to all of us.

Education is another part of this commitment. The WAMP Project and WAMP booklet were launched to help people understand our mangroves and the important role they play in the coastal environment, connecting practical action with greater awareness.

TIDE will build on these efforts, expanding opportunities for coastal clean-ups, environmental education and community participation.

As you enjoy our beautiful beaches, remember the time, care and hard work that go into keeping our coastlines clean. Support our efforts today and help us continue protecting the shores we all cherish.

Recognising Service, Encouraging Growth

At TropiGo, we believe young people should be encouraged to take bold steps, contribute to their communities and recognise the value of their own potential.

Through TIDE, we presented awards to students at graduation ceremonies within the All Saints East and St. Luke constituency of Antigua and Barbuda, recognising their achievements in volunteerism, youth leadership, helpfulness, service and personal improvement.

These awards celebrate the qualities that strengthen our schools and communities: a willingness to help others, the courage to lead and the determination to keep growing. They offer recognition to students whose efforts and example deserve to be seen and encouraged.

As these young people move into their next chapter, we want them to know that their contributions matter. Through this recognition, TIDE aims to encourage them to continue serving, developing their abilities and taking an active role in the communities they call home.
